Book about the fate of a Jewish girl from Pilsen to be revealed in the Věrka Kohnová Diary
A new book titled “Věrka Kohnová Diary” has been prepared by writer Jana Poncarová in collaboration with historian Jiří Sankot. The book is about the life of a twelve-year-old Jewish girl from Pilsen and the injustice and suffering that she had to face during her short life. It is not a novel, but a combination of several genres aimed at presenting a comprehensive picture of the girl’s life.
The book is expected to be accompanied by a lecture in the capital city. The lecture will be held on April 20th at 7 pm in the Maisel Synagogue and will feature a performance by the Lauder Schools children’s choir. The event is free of charge and will also give visitors the opportunity to view the original diary of Věrka Kohnová, which is stored in the Prague Jewish Museum.
According to Martina Vydrová from Albatros Media, the book is a sensitive message about one thwarted life that serves as a reminder that we must not forget the injustice and suffering of others. It is a reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust and the importance of remembering those who lost their lives in it.
The story of Věrka Kohnová is a tragic one, but it is also an important one. It highlights the struggles and suffering that Jewish people faced during the Holocaust and serves as a reminder of the importance of tolerance and respect for all people.
In today’s world, where discrimination and intolerance are still prevalent, books like the “Věrka Kohnová Diary” serve as a reminder that we must continue to work towards a more tolerant and accepting society. By remembering the injustices of the past, we can work towards a better future for all.
