Celebrating 75 Years of Friendship: A Joyous Indonesian-Czech Cultural Evening

On Tuesday, July 15, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Prague hosted an enchanting musical evening at the elegant Národní dům na Vinohradech. The event was held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Indonesia and the Czech Republic, which was then the Czechoslovak Republic.

Her Excellency Rina P. Soemarno, Ambassador of Indonesia to the Czech Republic, welcomed members of the diplomatic corps, Czech government officials, representatives from the cultural and academic spheres, and many friends of Indonesia. On the Czech side, Deputy Foreign Minister Eduard Hulicius delivered a warm and thoughtful address, highlighting the longstanding and multifaceted ties between the two countries. He praised the spirit of partnership, mutual respect, and cultural exchange that has characterized Indonesian-Czech relations over the past 75 years.

The evening began with a delightful reception featuring a selection of authentic Indonesian specialties, offering guests a taste of the archipelago’s rich culinary heritage.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating performance by the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TYSO) of Indonesia. With youthful energy and artistic finesse, the orchestra performed a vibrant and eclectic repertoire that spanned both Indonesian and international compositions. The concert was made all the more memorable by the dynamic presence of the young conductor, whose passion and charisma electrified the audience.

The atmosphere in the hall quickly shifted from one of admiration to one of celebration. The audience, visibly moved by the music and the orchestra’s spirited delivery, could not resist clapping along and even dancing to the more upbeat selections. The joyous interaction between the performers and the audience created an unforgettable moment of unity and cultural connection.

The evening served as a beautiful reminder of the enduring friendship between Indonesia and the Czech Republic, and of the power of music to bridge cultures, celebrate shared values, and inspire hope for continued cooperation.

As guests departed, the spirit of harmony and joy lingered in the air—a testament to the success of the evening and the strength of Indonesian-Czech relations.
