Celebration of the Throne Day of the Kingdom of Morocco

On July 30, 2025, Her Excellency Hanane Saadi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Czech Republic, hosted a grand reception at her residence to celebrate the Throne Day of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, friends of Morocco, as well as prominent figures from Czech political, cultural, and business circles, including former President Václav Klaus with his wife Livia, former Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda, Eliška Hašková-Coolidge, and Dagmar Havlová.

The celebration took place in the elegant garden of the ambassadorial residence, which provided a picturesque setting for the occasion. The event commenced with the national anthems of Morocco and the Czech Republic, played in honor of the long-standing and friendly relations between the two nations.

In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Saadi highlighted the significance of the Throne Day, which marks the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the throne in 1999. She reflected on the remarkable progress that Morocco has achieved under the King’s leadership in areas such as economic development, modernization, women’s rights, renewable energy, and regional stability. Ambassador Sadi also expressed her deep gratitude for the strong diplomatic ties between Morocco and the Czech Republic, noting that during her seven-year tenure, these relations have grown substantially, particularly in the fields of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Following her remarks, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Kozák addressed the gathering. He praised the deepening of bilateral cooperation and applauded Ambassador Sadi’s personal dedication and tireless efforts in fostering Morocco–Czech Republic relations. Deputy Minister Kozak acknowledged the Ambassador’s critical role in expanding economic partnerships and promoting mutual understanding between the two countries.

Guests were then treated to a delightful selection of Moroccan culinary specialties, meticulously prepared by the ambassador’s chef. From fragrant couscous and tagine dishes to an array of traditional Moroccan pastries and mint tea, the cuisine showcased Morocco’s rich culinary heritage and hospitality.

Throne Day is a national holiday in Morocco celebrated annually on July 30. It commemorates the enthronement of King Mohammed VI, who has since become a symbol of continuity, modernization, and reform. Under his reign, Morocco has taken significant steps toward democratization, social development, infrastructure advancement, and regional diplomacy. The King’s vision for a progressive Morocco has earned him widespread respect both at home and on the international stage.

The reception concluded with warm conversations among the guests, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and the Czech Republic. The event was not only a celebration of the Moroccan monarchy but also a testament to the fruitful diplomatic efforts of Ambassador Hanane Saadi, whose legacy will undoubtedly be remembered with admiration.
