Exactly 101 years ago, Frederick Banting and Charles Best discovered insulin, which still helps people with diabetes 💉
And on this day we commemorate the World Diabetes Day. It’s a day dedicated to raising awareness of the health condition suffering millions of people around the world. That is, every tenth adult suffers from diabetes and approximately half of them have not been diagnosed yet.
Did you know that Denmark is closely related to the invention of insulin? A year after this crucial discovery of insulin, the Danish company Novo Nordisk was founded. Two years later, in March 1923, the first patients were treated with insulin of the Danish company and they continue to be treated today.
