EU cyber and digital ambassadors met in Prague to discuss latest issues pertaining to cyber and digital diplomacy

The EU Cyber and Digital Ambassadors met on November 3rd in Prague for a meeting of the EU Digital and Cyber Diplomacy Networks, dedicated to the latest developments in the field of cyber and digital diplomacy. The informal meeting was held in Prague as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union and was attended by representatives from the 27 EU member states and the European Commission. Moreover, the meeting took place during the “Czech Digital Week” (31. 10. – 4. 11.) on the margins of the “High-Level Multi-Stakeholder Meeting on the Future of the Internet” and the “EU Secure and Innovative Digital Future Conference.”

The ambassadors talked about how to further strengthen the EU Digital and Cyber Partnerships by advancing the current digital and cyber capacity building projects and latest developments in the EU-US Trade and Technology Council. One of the main aims of the meeting was to assess the role the EU plays in cyber security multilateral processes by focusing the discussion on current developments at the UN level and on cross-regional cooperation.

The EU Digital and Cyber Diplomacy Networks play a crucial role in shaping the EU’s cyber and digital position, as set out in the Council’s conclusions on the EU’s Cybersecurity Strategy for the Digital Decade and the Council’s conclusions on Digital Diplomacy. Similarly, the topic of cybersecurity is one of the priorities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU; and therefore, the Czech Republic attaches a great importance to hosting this meeting.
