Extended Period of Above-Average Temperatures Predicted by Czech Meteorologists Until Mid-February
Meteorologists in the Czech Republic, based on projections from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), anticipate an extended period of above-average temperatures persisting until mid-February, interspersed with intermittent incursions of cooler air. The forecast spans four weeks from January 22 to February 18.
Following the fluctuating weather patterns observed in the initial two decades of January, the weather is expected to revert to a more sustained trend of above-average temperatures, prevailing throughout the forecast period. Occasional invasions of cooler, possibly cold air are predicted to be transient and short-lived, according to the ČHMÚ.
The meteorological outlook indicates a slightly to moderately above-average period until the conclusion of the first decade of February. Towards the end of January, the highest temperatures are anticipated, with daytime highs frequently reaching around six degrees Celsius, and nighttime lows averaging around 0°C or slightly below freezing. Daily temperature fluctuations are expected, with Wednesday identified as the warmest day of the week, featuring temperatures exceeding 10 degrees Celsius.
This temperature pattern is projected to persist into the fourth forecast week, aligning more closely with long-term climatological norms. Notably, average minimum temperatures during this period are anticipated to be lower than in the previous weeks, occasionally dipping just below freezing for extended durations, while daytime highs are expected to hover around five degrees Celsius.
In terms of precipitation, the overall period is forecasted to be standard, with the month’s transition likely to exhibit more noticeable precipitation patterns. However, meteorologists do not anticipate extreme weather conditions during this timeframe.
The monthly outlook provides a general characterization of the weather and may not account for all potential fluctuations, with a success rate of approximately 75 percent for temperatures and around 65 percent for precipitation. The third and fourth-week forecasts typically align closely with long-term climatic values for the respective periods, as cautioned by the ČHMÚ.
