AS IF BY A MIRACLE…
As if by a miracle the fourteen-year-old Jewish girl Eva Löwidt, today Erben, escaped from the death march. She reached Postřekov in the Domažlice region, emaciated to the bone, where she fainted from exhaustion.
There, the Jahn family took her in and hid her until the end of the war. “Thanks to them, I was born again,” the Holocaust survivor and witness told the Pravo daily.
Although she lives in Israel today, Postřekov had become a second home for Eva Erben. And whenever she visits the Czech Republic, she meets the descendants of her rescuers. The most recent time they all met was only last week.
