KOSTEL NAVŠTÍVENÍ, EJN KEREM, JERUZALÉM

Tento týden si Česká republika připomněla hned dva svátky spojené s historií křesťanství. I proto jsme se rozhodli představit vám tenhle krásný kostel. Kostel, kde se podle tradice setkala Panna Marie, matka Ježíše, s Alžbětou, matkou sv. Jana Křtitele.

Tento jednolodní chrám s mozaikou na západním průčelí a hranolovou věží stojí na základech byzantského a křižáckého kostela na skalnatém kopci, sevřený vzrostlými cypřiši.

V kryptě najdete kamennou studnu, místo setkání těchto vyjímečných žen, kde vytryskl zázračný pramen. Fresky na stěnách ilustrují tuto biblickou událost.

CHURCH OF THE VISITATION, EIN KEREM, JERUSALEM

This week, the Czech Republic celebrated two holidays connected with the history of Christianity. That is why we decided to present this beautiful church to you. The church where, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, met Elizabeth, the mother of St. John the Baptist.

This one-nave church with a mosaic on its west facade and a square-shaped tower stands on the foundations of a Byzantine and Crusader churches on a rocky hill, surrounded by mature cypress trees.

In the crypt, you will find a stone well, the supposed meeting place of the two extraordinary women, where a miraculous sprang forth. The frescoes on the walls illustrate this biblical event.
