Velká ztráta pro církev: Úmrtí Dominika Jaroslava kardinála Dukase

S hlubokým zármutkem přijala katolická církev v Praze, v celé České republice i v zahraničí zprávu o úmrtí Dominika Jaroslava kardinála Dukase. Významný duchovní zemřel ve věku 87 let po krátké, těžké nemoci. Jeho odchod představuje mimořádnou ztrátu nejen pro českou katolickou komunitu, ale pro celé duchovní a kulturní prostředí země.

Kardinál Dukas se narodil v roce 1938 v Brně. Již v mládí cítil povolání k víře a službě lidem. Po studiu teologie v Olomouci a v Římě byl v roce 1963 vysvěcen na kněze. V době politického útlaku se neohroženě zasazoval o svobodu víry a stal se morální autoritou mnoha věřících. Později působil jako profesor církevních dějin a po roce 1989 se významně podílel na obnově církevních struktur. Roku 2004 se stal pražským biskupem a v roce 2012 jej papež Benedikt XVI. jmenoval kardinálem.

Kardinál Dukas byl znám jako budovatel mostů mezi generacemi, náboženstvími i národy. Usiloval o obnovu duchovního života, podporu vzdělání a dialog s ostatními církvemi a náboženstvími. Výrazně podporoval sociální projekty pro rodiny v nouzi, bezdomovce a uprchlíky. Ve veřejné debatě vystupoval na obranu lidské důstojnosti a svobody.

Jeho odchod představuje vážnou ztrátu pro katolickou církev v České republice. Přesto jeho dílo a odkaz přetrvají v živé paměti věřících a všech, kterým pomáhal.

A great loss for the Church: The death of Dominik Jaroslav Cardinal Dukas

With deep sorrow, the Catholic Church in Prague, throughout the Czech Republic, and far beyond has learned of the passing of Dominik Jaroslav Cardinal Dukas. The esteemed clergyman died at the age of 87 after a brief, serious illness. His passing is a profound loss not only for the Catholic community, but also for the intellectual and cultural life of the nation.

Born in 1938 in Brno, Cardinal Dukas felt early called to faith and service. After studying theology in Olomouc and Rome, he was ordained a priest in 1963. During the years of political oppression, he stood courageously for religious freedom and became a moral guide for many believers. He later served as professor of Church history and played an important role in the reconstruction of Church structures after 1989. In 2004 he became Bishop of Prague, and in 2012 he was elevated to the rank of Cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI.

Cardinal Dukas was known as a bridge‑builder between generations, religions, and nations. He worked for the renewal of spiritual life, the promotion of education, and dialogue with other denominations and religious communities. He significantly supported social initiatives for families in need, the homeless, and refugees. In public debate, he consistently defended human dignity and freedom.

His passing is a significant loss for the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic. Yet his legacy and the memory of his service will live on among all those whose lives he touched.

Ein großer Verlust für die Kirche: Zum Tod von Dominik Jaroslav Kardinal Dukas

Mit tiefer Trauer hat die katholische Kirche in Prag, in ganz Tschechien und weit darüber hinaus die Nachricht vom Tod von Dominik Jaroslav Kardinal Dukas aufgenommen. Der hochgeschätzte Geistliche verstarb im Alter von 87 Jahren nach kurzer, schwerer Krankheit. Sein Tod stellt einen bedeutenden Verlust für die katholische Gemeinschaft wie auch für das geistige und kulturelle Leben des Landes dar.

Kardinal Dukas wurde 1938 in Brünn geboren. Schon früh fühlte er sich zum Glauben und zum Dienst an den Menschen berufen. Nach dem Studium der Theologie in Olmütz und Rom wurde er 1963 zum Priester geweiht. In den Jahren des politischen Drucks setzte er sich mutig für die Religionsfreiheit ein und wurde für viele zu einer moralischen Leitfigur. Später wirkte er als Professor für Kirchengeschichte und trug nach 1989 maßgeblich zum Wiederaufbau kirchlicher Strukturen bei. 2004 wurde er zum Bischof von Prag ernannt, 2012 folgte die Erhebung zum Kardinal durch Papst Benedikt XVI.

Kardinal Dukas galt als Brückenbauer zwischen Generationen, Religionen und Nationen. Er engagierte sich für die Erneuerung des geistlichen Lebens, für Bildung und für den Dialog zwischen Konfessionen. Er unterstützte zahlreiche soziale Projekte für Familien in Not, Obdachlose und Flüchtlinge. In der öffentlichen Debatte setzte er sich beharrlich für Menschenwürde und Freiheit ein.

Sein Tod ist ein großer Verlust für die katholische Kirche in der Tschechischen Republik. Doch sein Vermächtnis und sein geistliches Wirken leben in all jenen weiter, deren Leben er berührt hat.
