Moroccan Cultural Heritage Day Celebrated in Troja Castle
On May 14, 2025, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Czech Republic hosted the Moroccan Cultural Heritage Day in the picturesque setting of Troja Castle.
The event was organized under the patronage of Her Excellency Hanane Saadi, Morocco’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic. It attracted a wide audience, including members of the diplomatic corps, Czech Politicians like President Václav Klaus and former prime minister Andrej Babiš, cultural figures, artists.
The celebration showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Morocco, highlighting both its ancient traditions and vibrant contemporary arts. The program featured an exhibition of traditional Moroccan crafts, including ceramics, textiles, leatherwork, and jewelry. Visitors could also enjoy live performances of Andalusian music, Gnawa rhythms, and Amazigh dances, reflecting the multicultural mosaic that defines Moroccan identity.
In her opening speech, Ambassador Saadi emphasized the deep historical roots of Moroccan civilization and its enduring influence across the Mediterranean and beyond. She also expressed Morocco’s strong commitment to cultural diplomacy as a tool for fostering understanding, cooperation, and peace. “Culture is the language of dialogue,” she noted, “and today we are opening the doors to Morocco’s soul.”
Several Czech officials and cultural partners joined the ambassador in recognizing the growing ties between Morocco and the Czech Republic, especially in the fields of education, tourism, and cultural exchange. The event was also an opportunity to reflect on Morocco’s growing role as a cultural and economic bridge between Africa and Europe.
Children and families participated in workshops, including Arabic calligraphy, traditional Moroccan cooking, and storytelling sessions inspired by Moroccan folklore. Guests were treated to an array of Moroccan culinary delights such as couscous, tagine, mint tea, and pastries, prepared by Moroccan chefs living in Prague.
The Moroccan Cultural Heritage Day concluded with a ceremonial procession representing Morocco’s traditional wedding customs, complete with costumes, music, and symbolic rituals. The colorful and immersive experience left a strong impression on all attendees and served as a vibrant reminder of the enduring power of culture to unite people across continents.
The event in Troja was not only a celebration of Morocco’s unique heritage but also a reaffirmation of the strong friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Czech Republic. It underlined the importance of intercultural dialogue in building bridges of respect, cooperation, and shared humanity.
