New Railway Timetable Unveiled: Changes to International and Regional Rail Travel with Fare Adjustments

Starting this Sunday, a revamped railway timetable will come into effect, reshaping international and regional rail travel in the Czech Republic. The updated schedule introduces new routes, reduces travel times, but also extends journeys due to ongoing repairs and reconstructions. Passengers are advised to check the revised departure times on transporters’ websites or apps to stay informed about the changes.

Notably, Czech Railways will implement fare adjustments with an average increase of almost a tenth. However, until Saturday, passengers still have the opportunity to purchase tickets at existing prices for up to two months in advance.

In the international timetable, Czech Railways aims to enhance connectivity with Poland and increase the frequency of links from Moravia to Vienna. Meanwhile, in regional transport, the introduction of new vehicles will be a notable feature of the updated timetable.

Despite these improvements, closures and disruptions will impact train traffic in Prague and Central Bohemia. For instance, due to limited capacity on the railway bridge at Prague Výton, additional trains on line S7 to Prague-Radotín and Řevnice will now start and end at Smíchov instead of the central station. Trains originating from Mladá Boleslav and Všetat will undergo modernization at Masaryk Station, altering their final destination to Prague central station.

Private carrier RegioJet is set to reinforce connections between Prague and Bratislava, pledging to reduce travel time by thirteen minutes on the Brno-Prague route and the Prague-Ostrava route. Both private carriers, including RegioJet, have clarified that they do not have plans for a blanket fare increase in the new timetable.

Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about these changes and plan their journeys accordingly, taking advantage of the pre-sale option available until Saturday to secure tickets at current prices.
