Plzeňský Prazdroj welcomes the new year by working with sibeeria brewery. They cooked Cold IPA Cryonaut together

Prague, January 11, 2024 – Beer specials programme The choice of The Brewers of Plzeňský Prazdroj enters its tenth year by working with one of the most popular Czech mini-breweries. The result of the connection with Sibeeria is Cryonaut, a Cold IPA-style beer with special cryo hops. Cryonaut will be on tap in more than 1,000 pubs and restaurants across the Czech Republic and Slovakia throughout January.
Plzeňský Prazdroj has long cooperated with mini-breweries, which base themselves on high quality beer and enthusiasm for brewing craft. Since 2015, he has brewed thirteen beers of various styles with them as part of his Choice of Straws programme, and has prepared his 14th beer this January, this time in collaboration with the sibeeria mini-brewery.
“For a chilly January, we decided to include Cold IPA beer, one of the newest beer styles ever. Sibeeria beers are very popular with brewing experts and beer enthusiasts, the approach of colleagues from this mini-brewery to cold IPA style was recently appreciated by the respected hop growers of America,” says Tomáš Drahoňovský, manager of Choice of Brewers.
The result of the collaboration is a light, bottom-fermented Cold IPA called Cryonaut with a degree of 12.3 and an alcohol volume of 5.5%. “Cold IPA beers are made using bottom fermentation at lower temperatures than normal for other IPAs. Hence the Cold label. In addition, we have chosen frozen hops Cryo Idaho and Cryo Pop for hops,” explains the name of the Cryonaut brewery of Plzeňský Prazdroj, Tomáš Pokorný.
It was cooked together not only in Prazdroj, but also in the Sibeeria brewery in Prague Vysočany. The brewers both supervised to offer beer lovers a unique experience.
“Cryonaut is a refreshing beer brewed from barley pilsner malt and a typical addition of rice flakes for this type of beer. Used hops, American Cryo Pop, Cryo Idaho, Sabro and New Zealand’s Moteuka and Taiheke, give it a higher bitterness – 40 IBU units and a distinctive hop aroma with a subtle aftertaste of tropical fruits, citrus and herbs. The main domain of this beer is great drinking ability, so it will surely be appreciated not only by fans of new beer styles, but also by traditional Czech beer makers,” jiri Bauer evaluates the sibeeria brewery’s joint beer brewery.
Cryonaut beer was presented to the public by representatives of both breweries together with the first sibeeria branded beer bar in the centre of Prague, which was named Sibeeria Tap Room.
“The first reviews and interest of our beer fans confirm that the collaboration with Plzeňský Prazdroj has gone well and we are happy to christen our new restaurant cryonaut,” says sibeeria owner Ruslan Shishimtsev, adding, “We believe that Sibeeria Tap Room will soon become a hot spot for all fans of the colourful beer flavours.” All important information about the new restaurant can be found at www.sibeeria.cz in the Tap Room section.
January’s Cyronaut special can be enjoyed by beer fans in more than 900 pubs and restaurants across the Czech Republic and in more than 200 businesses in Slovakia. Specific businesses can be easily found at volbasladku.cz and volbasladkov.sk.
