Embassy of Slovenia in Prague / Velvyslanectví Republiky Slovinsko v Praze
We strengthen cooperation between and in the field of traffic, infrastructure and energy.
Today I met with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Transport Karl Havličko in Prague. I talked to my interlocutors about bilateral cooperation between countries in the field of traffic, infrastructure and energy.
Cooperation between Slovenia and Czech Republic in the field of railway and railway infrastructure was considered good with the possibility of upgrading, with special attention to efforts to improve Slovenia's connectivity with the inside. Slovenia wants to strengthen cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of all traffic subsystems, especially in the field of railways. We want to contribute and promote greater economic connection between countries. Both countries are part of the Baltic-Adriatic corridor, which opens up new opportunities for expanding economic cooperation.
In light of the construction of the second track between Koper and Divača, I evaluated the opportunity to strengthen cooperation of the Czech market with the port of Koper. Slovenia wants to strengthen its cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of logistics and ensure greater flow of goods across the Koper port. We see the chances of increasing cooperation between countries in the field of maritime transport in the recognition of the Koper port and Luke Koper as reliable and trusted maritime path for Czech imports and export of goods.
In the conversation, I also exposed Slovenia's ambition to pursue climate-energy goals and commitment and support the goal of climate neutrality of the European Union by 2050, which will be difficult to achieve without using nuclear energy according to the interlocutors. We commit to observing the principle of fair transition, national specialties and the use of all low-carbon technologies, as well as nuclear energy. Slovenia is an advocate for safe use of nuclear energy.
