Swedish automaker Volvo recently introduced a new paid parental leave strategy for its more than 40 employees worldwide, regardless of gender.
All employees working for Volvo for at least a year will automatically receive 24 weeks of leave, during which they will be paid 80 percent of the wages, as stated in the company's statement. ′′ Vacation ′′ can be drawn anytime during the first three years of parenting.
This new strategy thinks of everyone, including adoptive, foster and foster parents, as well as non-biological parents in same-sex couples.
In the Czech Republic and Sweden, 24 weeks of parenting may sound like little, but in the world such practice is definitely not common. Volvo volunteered for social benefits, which we already take for granted.
