PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN PRAGUE DONATES MAPLE TREE
TO THE TREE AVENUE OF UNDERSTANDING IN HOSTIVICE
Minister and Consul General Indhira C. Bañares and Attaché Lina Catbagan of the Embassy of the Philippines joined members of the Diplomatic Corps in the Czech Republic for an informal ceremonial visit to the Tree Avenue of Understanding in Hostivice on 15 June 2021.
The Embassy of the Philippines donated one maple tree to the project of the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (Nadace Partnerství), under the auspices of former Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček and in cooperation with the Hostivice and Jeneč municipalities, that aims to plant 10 million trees in the Czech Republic and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goal of increasing biodiversity.
Originally planned as a tree-planting event in October 2020, the event was changed to an informal gathering of the more than 60 embassies that donated trees to the 700-meter tree avenue due to the restrictions imposed to control the spread of COVID-19 in the previous year.
Representatives from Donor-Embassies walked together at the alley to inspect the vitality of the trees and sign their designated markers.
The Foundation’s Director for Strategic Development Miroslav Kundrata and Mayor of Hostivice Klára Čápová, together with former Foreign Minister Petříček, conveyed their gratitude to the members of the diplomatic corps who supported the project. END
