Slovenia Warns Of Long Waiting Times At The Border With Croatia

Ljubljana – Tourists at Slovenia’s border crossings with Croatia have to prepare for queues of many kilometres and waits of up to three hours. The situation is worst at the Dobovec border crossing, warned the Slovenian Traffic Information Centre for National Roads, quoted by the RTV Slovenija news server.

A four-kilometre-long queue has formed on the highway in front of the Gruškovje border crossing and the waiting time is more than two hours. On the highway in front of the Obrežje border crossing, there is a one-kilometre-long queue of cars with a waiting time of one to two hours. And at the aforementioned Dobovec border crossing, the waiting time for the exit is three hours and the traffic jam reaches seven kilometres. At the Dragonja border crossing, a two-kilometre long queue and a one-hour wait must be expected.

There is also a traffic jam on the Austrian side before the Šentilj crossing towards Slovenia, on the Austrian side of the tunnel in the Karavanke mountains and after the tunnel before Jesenice westwards towards Ljubljana. The tunnel towards Slovenia is sometimes closed for safety reasons.
