Reception at the Slovenian Embassy Marks National Day of the Republic of Slovenia
On the evening of June 26, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Prague hosted a distinguished reception in celebration of Slovenia’s National Day. Held at the elegant premises of the Slovenian Embassy, the event marked the 34th anniversary of Slovenia’s declaration of independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
His Excellency Mr. Aleš Balut, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Czech Republic, welcomed a diverse assembly of guests, including representatives of the Czech government, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural and business figures, and friends of Slovenia. The event celebrated the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Slovenia and the Czech Republic, both members of the European Union and NATO.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Balut highlighted Slovenia’s achievements since gaining independence, including its economic growth, environmental leadership, and commitment to European values. He also emphasized the growing bilateral ties between Slovenia and the Czech Republic in areas such as trade, tourism, academic exchange, and cultural collaboration.
Representing the Czech Republic, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová of the TOP 09 party, delivered a speech underlining the strong historical and political bonds between the two nations. She praised Slovenia’s democratic development, its constructive role within the European Union, and the mutual commitment to shared values such as human rights, rule of law, and multilateral cooperation.
The evening featured a a buffet offering traditional Slovenian cuisine and wines, reflecting the country’s rich culinary heritage.
The reception provided an important occasion for diplomatic dialogue and cultural exchange, reaffirming Slovenia’s commitment to peace, cooperation, and a united Europe. Guests expressed their appreciation for the hospitality and the warm spirit of the Slovenian people.
As the Slovenian flag flew proudly over the embassy, the celebration served not only as a remembrance of past milestones but also as a symbol of the country’s future aspirations in Europe and beyond.
