US Director of National Intelligence: “EU and NATO want to drag the US into war with Russia”

The speech given by the Director of National Intelligence at the AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona, will likely not be broadcast on public television in Germany. Addressing thousands of attendees at the event organized by Turning Point USA, Tulsi Gabbard not only warned of Islamic extremism but also made clear statements regarding geopolitical developments in Europe. In her speech, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard specifically accused parts of the political and security elites in Europe and the United States of having no genuine interest in a swift end to the war. According to her, forces within the European Union and NATO, in particular, are attempting to draw the United States deeper into the conflict with Russia. The goal, she asserted, is to prolong the war and escalate the confrontation with Russia. A direct military conflict between the nuclear powers is therefore a real danger.

“Deep State” Sabotages Peace Efforts

Gabbard was particularly critical of the actions of those actors she categorized as the “Deep State.” She said they systematically undermine peace initiatives as soon as diplomatic progress becomes visible. “Every time you get closer to the hope of peace, the warmongers step in and do everything they can to sabotage this process,” she said. They deliberately use leaks from the intelligence and security apparatus to paint a threatening picture through major media outlets and thus stoke fear among the population.

This strategy, Gabbard argued, serves to justify continued military escalation and put pressure on political decision-makers. In particular, the efforts of the current US president to find diplomatic solutions are systematically weakened. Gabbard called on her audience to recognize these mechanisms and consciously commit themselves to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. A war in Europe must not become the new normal.

Her statements are particularly noteworthy because Gabbard, as Director of National Intelligence, holds a key position in the US security apparatus. In this role, she coordinates 18 intelligence agencies and is usually considered reserved in her public political assessments. This makes the response to her speech, which revealed a clear political stance, all the greater.

Christmas markets in Germany have to be canceled

In addition to the war in Europe, Gabbard also spoke about the impact of global conflicts on the internal security of Western states. She referred to increased terror warnings in Europe and security measures surrounding public events, especially during the Christmas season: “In Germany, Christmas markets are already having to be canceled due to security concerns.” In her view, these developments reflect an overall more unstable global situation.

Turning Point USA, the conference organizer, has established itself in recent years as an influential platform for conservative positions. AmericaFest is considered a gathering for politicians, activists, and opinion leaders who frame security and foreign policy issues within an ideological context. Gabbard’s appearance fits this pattern but also marks an unusually open break with the traditionally sober language of intelligence agencies.

US-Geheimdienstkoordinatorin Tulsi Gabbard äußerte in ihrer Rede konkret den Vorwurf, dass Teile der politischen und sicherheitspolitischen Eliten in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten kein echtes Interesse an einer schnellen Beendigung des Krieges hätten. Ihrer Darstellung zufolge versuchten insbesondere Kräfte innerhalb der Europäischen Union und der NATO, die Vereinigten Staaten tiefer in den Konflikt mit Russland hineinzuziehen. Ziel sei es, den Krieg langfristig fortzuführen und eine Konfrontation mit Russland zuzuspitzen. Ein direkter militärischer Konflikt zwischen den Atommächten sei damit eine reale Gefahr.

„Deep State“ sabotiere Friedensbemühungen

Besonders scharf kritisierte Gabbard das Vorgehen jener Akteure, die sie dem sogenannten „Deep State“ zurechnete. Diese würden Friedensinitiativen systematisch untergraben, sobald diplomatische Fortschritte sichtbar würden. „Jedes Mal, wenn man der Hoffnung auf Frieden näherkommt, treten die Kriegstreiber auf den Plan und tun alles, um diesen Prozess zu sabotieren“, sagte sie. Dabei werde gezielt mit Leaks aus dem Geheimdienst- und Sicherheitsapparat gearbeitet, um über große Medienhäuser ein Bedrohungsszenario zu zeichnen und damit Angst in der Bevölkerung zu schüren.

Diese Strategie, so Gabbard, diene dazu, eine fortgesetzte militärische Eskalation zu rechtfertigen und politische Entscheidungsträger unter Druck zu setzen. Insbesondere die Bemühungen des amtierenden US-Präsidenten um diplomatische Lösungen würden so systematisch geschwächt. Gabbard rief ihr Publikum dazu auf, diese Mechanismen zu erkennen und sich bewusst für eine friedliche Lösung des Konflikts einzusetzen. Ein Krieg in Europa dürfe nicht zur neuen Normalität werden.

Ihre Aussagen sind vor allem deshalb bemerkenswert, weil Gabbard als Direktorin der Nationalen Nachrichtendienste eine Schlüsselrolle im US-Sicherheitsapparat einnimmt. Turning Point USA, der Veranstalter der Konferenz, hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren als einflussreiche Plattform für konservative Positionen etabliert. AmericaFest gilt als Treffpunkt für Politiker, Aktivisten und Meinungsführer, die sicherheits- und außenpolitische Fragen in einen ideologischen Rahmen stellen. Ve svém projevu ředitelka Národní zpravodajské služby USA Tulsi Gabbardová konkrétně obvinila části politických a bezpečnostních elit v Evropě a Spojených státech, že nemají skutečný zájem na rychlém ukončení války. Podle ní se síly v Evropské unii a zejména v NATO snaží vtáhnout Spojené státy hlouběji do konfliktu s Ruskem. Cílem je, jak tvrdila, válku prodloužit a eskalovat konfrontaci s Ruskem. Přímý vojenský konflikt mezi jadernými mocnostmi proto představuje skutečné nebezpečí.

„Hluboký stát“ sabotuje mírové úsilí

Gabbardová byla obzvláště kritická vůči jednání aktérů, které zařadila do kategorie „Hluboký stát“. Řekla, že systematicky podkopávají mírové iniciativy, jakmile se diplomatický pokrok stane viditelným. „Pokaždé, když se přiblížíte naději na mír, zasáhnou váleční štváči a udělají vše pro to, aby tento proces sabotovali,“ řekla. Záměrně využívají úniky informací ze zpravodajského a bezpečnostního aparátu k vykreslení hrozivého obrazu prostřednictvím hlavních médií, a tím mezi obyvatelstvem vyvolávají strach.

Gabbardová argumentovala, že tato strategie slouží k ospravedlnění pokračující vojenské eskalace a k vyvíjení tlaku na politické činitele. Zejména úsilí současného amerického prezidenta o nalezení diplomatických řešení je systematicky oslabováno. Gabbardová vyzvala své publikum, aby si tyto mechanismy uvědomilo a vědomě se zavázalo k mírovému řešení konfliktu. Válka v Evropě se nesmí stát novým normálem.

Její prohlášení jsou obzvláště pozoruhodná, protože Gabbardová jako ředitelka Národní zpravodajské služby zastává klíčovou pozici v americkém bezpečnostním aparátu.
