Turkish Cuisine Week 2025: A Celebration of Culture and Diplomacy in Prague

On May 27, 2025, the Turkish Embassy in Prague hosted a distinguished reception at the ambassadorial residence, marking the culmination of Turkish Cuisine Week – a global initiative celebrating Türkiye’s rich culinary heritage.
The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, cultural figures, and friends of Türkiye for an afternoon of gastronomy and cultural exchange.

The reception was graciously hosted by H.E. Dr. Metin Feyzioğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Czech Republic. Appointed in October 2024, Ambassador Feyzioğlu is a prominent legal scholar and former president of the Turkish Bar Association, known for his dedication to fostering international dialogue and cultural diplomacy.

Guests were treated to an exquisite buffet featuring classic Turkish dishes, prepared in line with this year’s theme: “Classics of Turkish Cuisine.” The menu showcased a variety of traditional specialties, including velvety lentil soup, mantı (Turkish dumplings), börek (savory pastries), and the beloved dessert baklava. These dishes exemplify Türkiye’s culinary philosophy of sustainability, seasonality, and zero waste, reflecting centuries-old traditions that continue to thrive in modern kitchens.

Held in the lush garden of the Turkish Residence in Prague 6, the event provided a serene setting for attendees to engage in meaningful conversations about culture, politics, and shared values. The gathering underscored the role of cuisine as a bridge between nations, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.

Turkish Cuisine Week, celebrated annually from May 21 to 27, is an initiative led by First Lady Emine Erdoğan and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Now in its fourth year, the event aims to promote Türkiye’s diverse culinary traditions on a global scale, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and the cultural significance of food.

The Prague reception exemplified the spirit of Turkish Cuisine Week, blending gastronomy with diplomacy to strengthen cultural ties and celebrate the enduring friendship between Türkiye and the Czech Republic.
