Announcement of the 15th annual Competition for the Good Domestic Food Product “CZECH TASTE 2023”, and the 13th edition of the Competition for the Brand “CHILDREN’S TASTE 2023”

HEALTHY ARE ALL FOODS, BUT YOU WILL ENJOY THE BEST!
Media shorthand sometimes makes people unaware of the absurdity of different claims. These include frequently dividing foods into healthy and unhealthy ones. At the same time, all foods placed on our market must be healthy, otherwise they would not meet the strict legislative and hygiene requirements overseen by a variety of state supervisory authorities. Unhealthy and healthy, therefore, are not the foods themselves, but only the amounts consumed, or the people themselves. It is so important for every person to have the most varied balanced diet possible, understandably appropriate to their composition to their needs, including health ones. Of course, an overweight person should consume less fatty foods, even if they are less enjoyed, because fat is a carrier of taste. Taste, in short, is what everyone appreciates most subjectively in a food – a tasty meal improves mood, with psychological well-being as important as physical condition, if not even more important. Therefore, the BRAND CZECH CHUŤOVKA clearly communicates to all consumers that the food it has been awarded has not only been produced in the Czech Republic by a Czech manufacturer, but mainly has an excellent taste, which is guaranteed by an evaluator’s committee of respected experts who have subjected it to careful sensory scrutiny. And it is similar to the brand NAME CHILDREN’S TASTE, which was awarded to the food by a jury made up entirely of children, because children’s tastes are not the same as adults’ tastes.
So far, a total of 226 Czech companies have acquired the CZECH TASTE BRAND for 1516 of their products and the CHILDREN’S TASTE LIST of 98 Czech producers for a total of 241 foods. The importance of both brands for Czech consumers is now growing even more in the context of the current economically unfavourable situation, where consumers are forced to think much more about what they are spending their money on specifically, and the quality of food should outweigh its quantity, as up to 20% of food is not consumed in our households and thrown away in garbage cans.  The criterion of excellent food taste is unquestionably one of the most important for these reasons too, because tasty foods are not thrown away so easily.
As a result, prudent producers are increasingly attracting consumers’ attention to their products by displaying the competing logos CZECH SAVOURY and CHILDREN’S TASTE IN their promotion and placing them directly on the product’s packaging. In addition, all successful foods can also be easily searched by consumers on www.ceskachutovka.cz .
The brand’s high profile has been ensured from the outset by a completely independent evaluation committee of renowned food professionals, who initiated the competition 15 years ago and are still mindful of its objectivity and regularity. Over the 15th year of the competition for the brand “Good Domestic Food Product Czech tastebud 2023” this year, the renowned University of Chemical Technology in Prague together with VOŠ, Gymnázio, SPŠ and SOŠ PODSKALSKÁ, where all evaluations of the products entered will also take place again in the autumn. The professional patron of the competition is the rector of VŠCHT Prof. Dr. RNDr. Pavel Matějka.
The children’s jury, made up of members of the Children’s Press Agency, students of the 1st year of the “PODSKALSKÁ” secondary food school and pupils of the London Primary School in Prague 2, will award the CHILDREN’S TASTE LABEL for the 13th time. Only products labelled with this brand can boast of having competed in sensory testing directly by children, reflecting faithfully specific children’s taste preferences. Last but not least, by promoting the brand, the organisers seek to promote the interest of the young generation in food applications.
The 15th edition of the competition will take place under the auspices of The Minister of Agriculture Zdenek Nekula, the Standing Commission of the Senate for Rural Development, the President of the Agrarian Chamber Jan Dolezal and the president of the Trade and Tourism Union Tomáš Prouza. The award ceremony will take place at the National Museum of Agriculture in Prague on November 2, 2023. This year, too, three exceptional products are expected to win the “Journalists’ Prize – Czech Tastebud 2023”.  The 13th prominent figure in the Czech food industry will be honored with the title “Knight of The Czech Taste”.
The deadline for manufacturers to enter this year’s competition is September 14. The application and competition rules can be found at www.ceskachutovka.cz . It is also possible to follow the Czech savoury on Facebook, where up-to-date information and news are published, including from the producers of the most delicious Czech food.
The traditional partners of the competition are Albert (general partner), The Fire Mutual Insurance Company, which will give its participants preferential terms when taking out insurance, and the National Museum of Agriculture. The renowned Czech porcelain company Dubí and the Czech Marketing Company are also esteemed partners of The Czech Taste.
The main media partners of the competition are AGRAL publishing house, RIX publishing house and Regional Television CZ, and children’s press agency is traditionally a partner of Children’s Tastebuds.
It is therefore to be wished that the autumn festive gathering of the best Czech foodies – winners of the 15th edition of the CZECH TASTE CONTEST 2023 will also take place in a more favourable social and especially economic atmosphere than we have all faced in recent years.
