ART PRAGUE 2026 – Assem AlSabban Impresses with Award-Winning Digital Photography

ART PRAGUE 2026, held in early June at Prague’s historic Mánes Exhibition Hall, once again confirmed its reputation as the Czech Republic’s leading fair for contemporary art. Artists and galleries from the Czech Republic and abroad presented works ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and digital art, demonstrating the remarkable diversity of today’s creative scene.

Among the artists who attracted particular attention was the Prague-based Saudi photographer and digital artist Assem AlSabban. Working at the intersection of traditional photography and digital art, AlSabban has developed a distinctive visual language that combines technical excellence with poetic imagination. His achievements have been recognized with a European Gold Award for digital photography, highlighting his growing international reputation.

Assem AlSabban’s personal and professional journey is as fascinating as his artistic work. Born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, he discovered his passion for photography at an early age and has devoted more than four decades to refining his craft. Alongside his artistic pursuits, he enjoyed a distinguished diplomatic career, serving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in senior diplomatic positions, ultimately reaching the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary. His international assignments exposed him to diverse cultures, landscapes, and architectural traditions, all of which have profoundly influenced his artistic vision.

After completing his diplomatic career, AlSabban settled in Prague, where he devoted himself fully to photography and digital art. The Czech capital has become one of his greatest sources of inspiration. Its bridges, historic streets, Gothic churches, and unique atmosphere frequently appear in his work—not as documentary images, but as dreamlike compositions that blend reality with imagination.

His artistic approach combines classical photography with digital collage, multiple exposures, sophisticated image processing, and carefully balanced compositions. Rather than using digital technology simply as a technical tool, AlSabban employs it to tell visual stories, evoke emotions, and explore themes such as memory, identity, time, and cultural dialogue. His works often merge Middle Eastern symbolism with European architecture, creating images that invite viewers to discover new details with every glance.

His photographs and digital artworks have been exhibited in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, France, Finland, and the Czech Republic. He has also published photographic books and has earned recognition within the European photographic community, including the distinction of Master Qualified European Photographer (MQEP).

At ART PRAGUE 2026, AlSabban demonstrated that digital photography has become a mature and respected artistic discipline. His exhibition illustrated how modern technology can enrich artistic expression while preserving the emotional depth and authenticity of photography.

The exhibition also reflected a broader trend within contemporary art: the successful fusion of tradition and innovation. Artists such as Assem AlSabban show that digital tools do not replace creativity—they expand its possibilities. His work stands as an inspiring example of how photography can transcend documentation and become a powerful form of artistic storytelling.
