Branický zázrak Branický miracle

Dancing with the homeless back to the joys of life. Humorous exaggeration, original author’s music, playful choreography and non-traditional conceptions of social and purely personal topics. The new theatrical musical Branický zázrak by Jan Svěrák and Tomáš Klus will be performed on two theater stages. The pre-premieres will take place on May 2 on the Voděrádka Summer Stage and the ceremonial premiere on May 17 at the Na Fidlovačce Theater. The libretto of the musical from the outskirts of Prague was written by film director Jan Svěrák and the songs and lyrics to it were written by the singer Tomáš Klus. For Jan Svěrák, the introduction of the musical is a theatrical first: “I started writing a new screenplay, and for a long time I didn’t want to believe that a film was being created under my hands, but a theatrical musical. I never did theater! And who should compose all those new songs? Perhaps only Tomáš Klus could… “ATomas Klus miraculously could and not only could, he fell in love with the story that he composed sixteen new songs for him within a few months. “I probably haven’t done anything better in my life. Perhaps because I didn’t write about myself for the first time, “admits the author of the music. A mystical story from today’s Braník tells the story of a songwriter in a midlife crisis. He feels he is moving away from his wife and his strength is waning. When his bike disappears from the garage, he decides to find the culprit and get back what once belonged to him. In this way, he reaches the local homeless, in whose grove they allegedly have powerful dreams at full moon. He will spend a magical night with them, which will bring an unexpected awakening. “We tend to turn a blind eye to reality if we don’t like the homeless. At the same time, it is precisely the rejected and rejected part of reality that sets the most faithful mirror for us, “stated Jan Svěrák.
