Classic Button Mobile Phones Experience Renaissance Amid Digital Detox Trend

In a world dominated by smartphones, classic button mobile phones are experiencing a notable resurgence. Both older individuals and younger users are increasingly turning to these “dumb” phones, viewing them as a means of digital detox when seeking a break from social networks and the internet.

While the demand for traditional button phones had seen a sharp decline for several years, recent trends suggest a resurgence in their popularity. According to the analytical server Statista, sales of button phones this year have practically leveled with last year’s figures, signaling a potential shift in consumer preferences.

The Nation server highlighted that in the USA, the demand for smartphones saw a 20% decline last year, attributed in part to high inflation. This factor is reportedly driving users to opt for classic button models as an alternative.

HMD Global, the company responsible for supplying Nokia-branded devices to the market, has documented the growing interest in button mobiles. Representatives from the company note that interest in flip button phones without an operating system doubled in 2022, with further growth anticipated this year.

The introduction of new button models to the market, such as the Nokia 2660 Flip, contributes to this resurgence. The Nokia 2660 Flip, which premiered in the summer, has been recently presented in new colors, including pink and green. This flip-button mobile phone serves as an excellent alternative for users seeking a break from modern technologies or those appreciating a secondary phone with extended battery life. Its large buttons and spacious display also make it appealing to the older generation.

As the digital detox trend gains momentum and users seek simpler alternatives to smartphones, classic button mobile phones are finding a renewed market and capturing the interest of a diverse demographic.
