Cold Front Sweeps Over Czech Republic Bringing Temperature Drop and Snowfall in Higher Altitudes

As a cold front advances over the Czech Republic, a significant temperature drop and numerous showers, including snowfall in higher altitude areas, are anticipated at the end of the week. Meteorologist Dagmar Honsová forecasts a cooling trend that will persist until Monday, driven by a wave-like cold front influencing the weather from Thursday evening onwards. The influx of colder and humid air from the northwest is expected to bring wintry conditions to various parts of the country.

Thursday is forecasted to start with partly cloudy or nearly clear skies in some areas, accompanied by fog or low cloudiness. Cloudiness will progressively increase from the west as the day unfolds, with local showers joining in. Temperature ranges are expected to be between 9 and 13 degrees Celsius.

Friday is predicted to be mostly cloudy to overcast, featuring local rain or showers that may turn snowy at mountain peaks. Cloudiness is anticipated to decrease from the west in the afternoon, with temperatures rising to 7 to 11 degrees Celsius. Morning lows are projected to drop to 5 to 1 degree Celsius.

Saturday is also expected to experience extensive cloudiness with local showers or rain, including the possibility of snowfall in mountainous regions. Morning temperatures are estimated to drop to 4 to 0 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures should reach 5 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Honsová noted historical weather patterns on November 11th, citing 2007 as a year when this date brought the most snow in the past 20 years. Additionally, she highlighted occurrences of snow in peripheral parts of Prague in 2004, along with snow showers at varying altitudes in different years. This year’s weather aligns with the folklore tradition of Saint Martin arriving on a white horse, as the cold front ushers in wintry conditions reminiscent of past Novembers.
