Concert in commemoration of Asik Veysel

On the 8th November 2023, the Turkish Embassy in Prague has organized a concert commemorating the Turkish folk composer and poet Asik Veysel.

The event has been held at the World of Bansky Museum in Prague 1.

The opening speech has been offered by His Excellency Egemen Bagis, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye in the Czech Republic, and the keynote speech has been given by Cigdem Ozer, Granddaughter of the poet and President of the Foundation dedicated to her grandfather. The musical part has been performed by Petra Nachtmanova. A reception has followed.

Asik Veysel is considered among the best representatives of the Ashik (minstrel) folk tradition and his name is among those included in the 2023’ UNESCO commemoration program.
