Czech Republic Unveils Longest Ski Slope: 3.7 Kilometers of Thrilling Winter Adventure

Winter sports enthusiasts in the Czech Republic have reason to rejoice as the country opens its longest ski slope this Friday at Dolní Morava, nestled beneath the Králický Sněžník mountain. Boasting a remarkable length of 3.7 kilometers, this slope surpasses previous records held by the 3.26-kilometer-long slope in Ramzová, Jeseníky, and the 2.95-kilometer-long slope at Klínovec in Jáchymov.

Skiers can experience an exhilarating descent down the longest slope with a single push-off, providing a thrilling journey that proficient skiers can complete in approximately four minutes. The width of the slope adds to the enjoyment, measuring at least 25 meters, ensuring a spacious and enjoyable experience, as highlighted by Šárka Braunerová from the Mountain Resort Dolní Morava.

The ski resort officially kicked off the season last weekend, marking the commencement of daily operations. While around a thousand skiers participated during the opening weekend, adverse weather conditions likely influenced attendance, according to spokesperson Braunerová. The cable car transport system has a capacity of accommodating 2,400 skiers per hour.

Starting this Friday, daily skiing activities will commence at Dolní Morava. The slopes currently boast an average snow depth of sixty centimeters, with approximately half being natural snow and the rest artificial.

The resort has recently made a substantial investment of 600 million crowns in snowmaking infrastructure, including the construction of two snowmaking lakes with a combined volume exceeding one hundred thousand cubic meters. In total, six kilometers of ski slopes are now available, including Slamník, Vyhlídková, Sněžník B, and Kamila. Additionally, the resort has prepared 48 kilometers of cross-country trails in the upper sections, offering a comprehensive winter sports experience for enthusiasts.
