Czechia and India adopt Strategic Partnership on Innovation

On 10 January, the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and India, Petr Fiala and Narendra Modi, adopted a Joint Statement for Czechia-India Strategic Partnership on Innovation. The decision was taken after the two Prime Ministers met in Gandhinagar, India, on the sidelines of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

In the Joint Statement, both sides agreed to strengthen the innovation dialogue in key areas of Czech-Indian cooperation. In addition to increased cooperation between universities, applied research or scientific mobility, the newly adopted Strategic Partnership will focus on innovative projects and partnerships in trade, defence industrial cooperation, cyber security, environmental technology, energy, healthcare and other agendas of mutual interest.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1947, India has been one of the Czechia’s most important and traditional partners in Asia. India is also mentioned as a key country within the priority of deepening cooperation with democratic partners in the Indo-Pacific region, both in the Policy Statement of the Czech government and in the Strategy of the Czech Republic for cooperation with the Indo-Pacific region, adopted by the Czech government in September 2022.
