Danish Deposit and Return System: Leading the Way in Environmental Conservation

The Danish backup and return system is an environmentally friendly solution. Do you know how it works?
Consumers pay an advance payment when buying plastic bottles or aluminum cans.
They can return them at specific collection points and get the deposit back.
Containers are subsequently recycled, reducing the amount of plastic waste in landfills and in the oceans.
3 interesting facts:
1: 92% of all bottles and cans purchased in Denmark are returned.
2: In the production of cans from recycled materials, 95% less energy is consumed than if produced from primary materials.
3: The amount of plastic packaging recovered for recycling has increased from 49,000 tonnes (2014) to 74,000 tonnes (201).
