Deutsche Bahn is planning Germany’s longest tunnel in the Ore Mountains

Saxony – It is supposed to be a record project – a tunnel under the Ore Mountains – 30km long – the longest railway tunnel in Germany. The train will then only take an hour to travel from Dresden to Prague, and from Berlin to Vienna it will take just four hours, only half as long as today. The whole thing is still a thing of the future – completion is scheduled for 2044. Yesterday they decided on one of several variants – this decision has now been presented to the public.

Deutsche Bahn has made a decision. The planned new line between Dresden and Prague will feature Germany’s longest railway tunnel. What is crucial, however, is that according to the preferred variant, this is planned as a full tunnel.
