Lá Fhéile Bríde, St. Brigid’s Day, or the Celtic feast of Imbolc, is celebrated on the 1st of February in Ireland. It heralds in the arrival of spring. Rich in cultural history and tradition, festivities have been held on this day for thousands of years.
#Imbolc was associated with new life and birth, the #Celts celebrated a female goddess on this day called #Brigid, meaning “High One”. Brigid represented many things, including wisdom, poetry, healing, protection, leadership, crafting and more. There are many traditions associated with #StBrigidsDay which are still practised today, such as weaving #StBrigidscross from reeds or making Brídeóg dolls from straw.
Celebrate Brigid’s Day with Embassy by sharing photos of your own homemade crafts and creations and you’ll received a very special gift of St. Brigid’s Anemone bulbs to plant in your garden in time for spring! 🌸🌼
