Embassy of Slovenia in Prague / Velvyslanectví Republiky Slovinsko v Praze

A very educational and pleasant Slovenian weekend in Vysočina is behind us: On Saturday morning, we visited the National Monument to Eavesdropping, which consists of three reliefs of Bretschneider’s Ear, the Mouth of Truth and Golden Eyes, that are carved into the rocks of flooded granite quarries. The author of the monument is sculptor Radomír Dvořák in cooperation with local young stonemakers.
In the municipality of Lipnice we also visited the grave and museum of Jaroslav Haška, author of “The Good Soldier Švejko”. Later in the afternoon we checked out the Bernard brewery in Humpolac, and in the evening we hung out at the concert of the popular Slovenian singer Ditka and her trio.
On Sunday we walked along the part of the Brezina educational path that goes from Humpolac to the ruins of the Orlík castle. Along the way, we learned about the history of medieval mining (procurement of gold), local geology and geomythology. Quartz veins of the Czech massif are among the world’s most important gold locations.
The Embassy thanks the Czech-Slovenian society from Brno for organizing the march and accompanying events.
