From 25 to 30 October in the Czech city of Зhlava will be held one of the largest documentary film festivals in Central Europe. CHAPTER » Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival .
The opening film will be the “Eighth Day of War” tape of Ukrainian director oksana moisenyuk Oksana Moiseniuk about the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of the eyes of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic. The director filmed the stories of five protagonists, people of different professions working in the Czech Republic, on the eighth day of the great war. “I wanted to show one day in the life of the Ukrainian diaspora in the Czech Republic and the help of foreign Ukrainians to their homeland in the early days of the invasion,” says Oksana Moisenyuk.

The second great Ukrainian premiere at the festival will be Eugene Afineevsky’s film “Freedom in Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom”, shot with the assistance of Netflix. It is the continuation of Afineevsky’s tape of the Revolution of Dignity “Winter in Fire: Ukraine’s struggle for freedom”, which was nominated for an Oscar. The work of Afineevsky, operated by a team of 43 operators and 9 directors of montage, tells about the events Ukrainians experience during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The film is based on the personal stories of ordinary Ukrainians, children, soldiers, doctors, mothers, older people, journalists and volunteers.
The third Ukrainian film at the festival will become a documentary tape of Irina Stetsenko about the music band Dakh Daughters ” Roses. A cabaret film.
On October 26 within the festival, 5 lectures and discussions are planned within the special festival program “Inspiration Forum”, which will be taken by director Alice Kovalenko, journalist Illya Ponomarenko and writers Maria Illâshenko and oksana stom ina.
10.00-11.00 – “Memes of War”. Guest: Maria Ilyashenko.
12.00 – 13.30 – “Two wars at the same time”. Discussion of the environmental consequences of Putin’s war against Ukraine and Europe. Guests: Anna Akkerman, Martin :rušek, Miriam Matsurova
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm – “Experience of Cruelty”. Discussion with Ukrainian writer from Mariupol, wife of Azovstal defender Oksana Stomina.
17:00 – 18.30 – “The story behind the title”. Discussion of reporters Illya Ponomarenko and Vojtekh Bogach.
7.30 pm – 9 pm – “Testimony from the trench”. Talk about women-military in the Ukrainian army with documentary Alice Kovalenko.
