Embassy of Ukraine in Prague / Velvyslanectví Ukrajiny v Praze

Burn to stand up for the truth!
The staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic led by the temporary trustee Vitaly Usatim honored the memory of a member of the Ukrainian resistance movement Vasyl Makuh.
The ceremony of honoring memory was also attended by the Mayor of Prague 10 Martin Valovich.
Today marks 55 years from the day when a Ukrainian dissident committed an act of self-immolation in the center of Kyiv in protest against the Soviet troops’ invasion of Czechoslovakia.
In 2018, to the 50th anniversary of the day of self-immolation, the City Council of the City of Prague passed a decision to appropriate the name of Vasily Makuh a píšohídnomu bridge bordering Ukrainian street. In the same year, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic began the tradition of honoring the memory of the Ukrainian dissident on the same-name bridge in Prague.
Eternal memory, Vasily Makuhu and eternal memory of all fallen defenders of Ukraine!
