Fiala wants to involve Czech companies in Ukraine’s reconstruction
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) wants to push for Czech companies to participate in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, Fiala said on Monday before leaving for a conference in Switzerland, where Ukrainian and European leaders are expected to outline priorities for the rebuilding of the war-torn country, which neighboring Russia unjustifiably invaded.
“We must already prepare for post-war reconstruction,” Fiala said, adding that it was important for the Czech Republic to have a chance to participate in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
“It will also be an opportunity for Czech companies and other entities. We will do everything to ensure that Czech companies are involved,” Fiala said.
Fiala stressed that all major world players must cooperate in post-war reconstruction. Speaking from his position as prime minister of the EU presidency, he noted that the EU and the Czech Republic must play a key role.
“When the war is over, we must be ready to start helping,” Fiala added.
The Czech Republic is one country that willingly provides Ukrainian humanitarian and military aid. Hundreds of thousands of people who fled the war have found refuge in the Czech Republic.
Fiala announced that he would meet Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the conference in Lugano.
