Full Flight Marks Delta’s Return to U.S. from Prague

On May 27, 2022, Delta Air Lines landed back at Václav Havel Airport Prague, restoring the only nonstop service between the Czech Republic and United States. Both the inbound and outbound flights operated at near capacity showing the demand for this route – Delta’s first in more than two years.

“We’re delighted to return to Prague today for the first time since 2019 and the full flight shows the demand for travel to this beautiful city,” said Thomas Brandt, Delta’s regional sales manager, who travelled on the service from New York. “The removal of all covid entry requirements last month has had a positive impact on bookings. We’re looking forward to a successful summer season connecting Prague to New York and beyond, while also supporting our respective tourism economies.”

In 2021, the U.S. was the largest non-European inbound source market to the Czech Republic with 44,000 visitors, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office. In 2019, almost 600,000 Americans visited the country.

“The resumption of direct flights to New York, which was one of the most attractive long-haul destinations from Prague in 2019, is excellent news,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors. “It will be particularly appreciated by Czech passengers, who will, after a two-year break, gain a convenient and fast connection to the east coast of the United States.”

For customers looking to travel beyond New York, Delta offers same-day connections to 42 cities across the United States from its hub at JFK, making it easier to connect to friends, family and business colleagues. The airline has more flights from Europe to New York-JFK than any other carrier and has a total of 190 flights taking off every day this month. All Delta’s flights from the Czech Republic are operated in conjunction with its joint venture partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic.

Delta’s flights will be operated using Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring 25 seats in Delta One business class and 35 Delta Comfort+ and 165 Main Cabin seats, providing more choice to suit all needs and budgets.
