Hyatt Opens First Hotel in Czech Republic

Hyatt has expanded its portfolio of hotels to the Czech Republic with the opening of the fifth Andaz hotel in Europe.

The 176-room Andaz Prague, the first Hyatt hotel in the country, is located on Senovážné Square within the magnificent and historical ‘Sugar Palace’ that dates back to 1916, originally built for the influential Sugar Industry Insurance Association.

Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square and the historic Municipal house (Obecní Dum), some of the most renowned historic sites in Europe, are within walking distance of the hotel.

“Prague is a city with an impressive history and culture,” said Martina Maly-Gärtner, COO of UBM, the real estate development company. “As the developer of this new hotel, we are very proud that we were able to utilise our design approach in a manner that enables the hotel to relate this beautiful history, with all of its legends and myths. Storytelling is actually one of the things we do best at UBM – and the Andaz Prague hotel is definitely a milestone in this regard in the nearly 150-year history of our company.”

Facilities at the hotel include a bistro restaurant, a bar, over 1,615 square feet (150 square meters) of event and meeting space, a fitness center with cardio equipment and free weights, as well a Spa by Klara Rott.

“As the Andaz brand is known for stimulating the creativity and curiosity of each guest, we are honored to introduce the brand to the Czech Republic,” said Doris Hecht, General Manager at Andaz Prague. “We are excited to welcome guests to Andaz Prague where we offer a unique experience through distinctive expressions of the local culture. The beautiful city of Prague continues to inspire many travelers to explore its rich offerings and Andaz Prague’s location offers guests the opportunity to take in some of the most stunning historic sites in Europe.”

The 26th Andaz hotel globally, Andaz Prague joins Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, Andaz London Liverpool Street and Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht, as the fifth Andaz hotel in Europe.
