Innogy will also discount gas for existing customers
Innogy, the largest domestic gas supplier in the Czech Republic, has announced a significant discount for its existing gas customers. The company will adjust its price list for about 320,000 customers, retroactively effective from February 1, offering a lower price for its Standard primary product until the end of the year. The discount, which is 18 percent for customers who heat with gas, will result in savings of approximately CZK 240 per MWh under the government’s cap of CZK 3,025 per MWh. The company has stated that customers who only use gas for cooking will receive an even larger discount of around 34 percent.
According to David Konvalina, Innogy’s Director of Retail and Marketing, the company will automatically adjust customers’ deposits in the second half of February, so they don’t need to set up advances or apply for a discount. The supplier has already adjusted its price list once this year, discounting gas for new customers in response to positive price developments on wholesale markets.
Innogy’s move to adjust its price list follows a similar announcement made last week by the company’s parent company, E.ON, which is also offering discounts to its electricity and gas customers. With millions of customers affected by these discounts, the moves by Innogy and E.ON could lead to significant savings for many households in the Czech Republic.
In conclusion, Innogy’s announcement of a discount for its existing gas customers is a positive development for many households in the country. With the new price list offering significant savings and the company automatically adjusting customers’ deposits, the discount is expected to be well received by those affected. As the largest domestic gas supplier, Innogy’s move could also encourage other suppliers to follow suit, resulting in further savings for households in the Czech Republic.
