PRESIDENT HERZOG REVEALED THE BOOK OF NAMES IN YOUR MEMORIES
Six million Jewish men, women and children were murdered during the Shoa. The Book of Names, unveiled by President יצחק הרצוג – Isaac Herzog on Sunday in Yad Vashem, is a commemorative book that holds 4,800,000 names of Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis during World War II. Because the full list of names will never be known, the last pages of the book are kept blank in memory of those whose names we don’t know.
The book is 8 meters long, 1.5 meters high with 1 meter wide pages. The book’s huge proportions show the monstrousness of this crime and should help visitors understand the enormous personal and collective loss of the Jewish nation and humanity as a whole.
