Lietuvos ambasada Prahoje / Embassy of Lithuania in Prague
If embassies were to choose their Event of the Year, our votes would probably go to the Christmas celebration for Ukrainian war refugees that took place on Friday in Liberec. Diplomatic activity abounds in political and economic meetings, representative receptions, presentations of Lithuanian culture, but there are events that are not in the action plans that are not mandatory, but the internal compass makes no doubt: “Certainly. Let’s do it! “Such was the Christmas celebration organized together by Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian embassies for the little Ukrainians living in Liberec. More than half a dozen of them flocked into the city library hall – ranging from two-year-olds to mothers of grown-up teenagers. Embassies prepared them a program of cartoons of Baltic countries and a gift, and in return they received a wonderful musical performance with songs and poems. All guests were enslaved by children’s national costumes, their “support teams” – enthusiastic parents from the hall and, of course, the children’s endless sincerity and love for Ukraine, which in the background of the war that ousted them from their home sounded the loudest note. Lithuanian embassy celebration Liberece became a beautiful introduction to the Christmas period.
For warmth, care and hope we would like to thank Oksana Goncharuk, the head of Ukrainian children, Vira Velianyk, the priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church šте ilь ilван Семот ilк, Dana Petrýdesová, Libereco Regional Library Governor Martin Půta Petra Stolín Froese, our Silvia Kloudova and all the children who came. Let’s not forget Ukraine, let’s be with her, she needs us.
