Member of the Board of the Supreme Audit Office Roman Procházka has died

We are deeply saddened to announce that a Member of the Board of the Supreme Audit Office(SAO), Roman Procházka, has suddenly passed away at the age of fifty-five

During his six-year tenure at the SAO, he conducted fourteen audits. He dealt with a wide range of topics, from the management of state funds in libraries or the Prison Service, to computerisation at the Ministry of Justice, to the state’s preparedness for disasters. His last closed audit, which we published two months ago, concerned funds for the construction of the D4 motorway (LINK).

Roman Procházka graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He started his career in 1991 at the District Office in Cheb, where he dealt with state conservation of monuments. Since 1993, he was the director of the Local Branch for the Karlovy Vary Region, he was also in charge of the creation of the National Heritage Institute for the Karlovy Vary Region and was managing this institute since 2007. Since 2010, he was the director of the Cheb Museum. From 2013 to 2017, he was a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In the regional elections in 2016 he was elected a representative of the Karlovy Vary Region. In 2018, he was elected a Member of the SAO.

Roman Procházka was married, had two children and was also a proud grandfather. We send our sincere condolences to his family. He will always be remembered.
