Meteorologists Issue Warning as Freezing Fog Threatens Slippery Roads in Czech Republic

Meteorologists have issued a warning for the Czech Republic as freezing fog is anticipated to form in some areas from Monday evening to Tuesday morning. The atmospheric condition can lead to frost on roads and sidewalks, posing the risk of slippery surfaces and potential hazards for commuters.

The region most susceptible to the formation of freezing fog is Moravia, where meteorologists expect fog to develop in many areas. Bohemia, particularly in the northern and northeastern regions, may also experience isolated instances of freezing fog, as highlighted by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI).

A specific warning has been issued for several regions, including Hradec Králové, South Moravia, Zlín, and parts of Central Bohemia, Liberec, Pardubice, and Olomouc. The alert is in effect from 20:00 on Monday to 10:00 on Tuesday.

While the freezing fog is expected to dissipate on Tuesday morning, central Moravia may experience its persistence for a longer duration. Meteorologists caution that road surfaces may remain slippery, especially in shaded locations, throughout the day. The risk of slippery streets and sidewalks is particularly pronounced in proximity to watercourses.

Temperature projections for Tuesday night indicate lows ranging between 5 and 0 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures expected to rise to 5 to 10 degrees Celsius. In areas where freezing fog lingers, temperatures may remain around 3 degrees Celsius.

This warning underscores the importance of caution for motorists and pedestrians in affected areas, urging them to be mindful of potentially hazardous conditions on roads and walkways. Authorities recommend taking preventive measures and staying updated on weather advisories to ensure public safety during the anticipated freezing fog episode.
