Metro Line C Closure at Florenc Station for Maintenance Work Causes Temporary Disruption in Prague

This weekend, Prague commuters will face inconvenience as the operation of Metro Line C between Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská stations will come to a halt once again. The closure is part of the ongoing reconstruction of the ceiling slab at Florenc station, a crucial maintenance project aimed at ensuring the safety and efficiency of the metro system. While the closure is necessary, passengers will need to make alternative travel arrangements during this period.

To compensate for the disruption, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has arranged for a replacement tram service. Tram line XC will be operational, providing transport between Hlavní nádraží (with a stop in Opletalova Street), Masarykovo nádraží, Bílá labuť, Vltavská, Strossmayerovo náměstí, and Výstaviště. The introduction of this temporary tram line aims to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the metro closure and offer passengers a viable alternative for their journeys.

In addition to tram line XC, DPP will also introduce line 36 during this period. Line 36 will depart from Zvonařka and pass through I. P. Pavlova, Karlovo and Václavské náměstí, and continue to Masarykovo nádraží. From there, the line will proceed to Vltavská, Výstaviště, and finally reach Nádraží Holešovice. Some connections from Nádraží Holešovice will operate as line 12 towards Barrandov, while others will continue their route through Kobylisy to Ďáblice. This diversification of transportation options aims to minimize inconvenience and provide passengers with flexibility in reaching their destinations.

However, the closure of Florenc station will make transfers between lines B and C more complicated. Passengers who rely on these connections should plan their journeys accordingly and consider the additional time required for transfers during this period.

It’s important to note that this closure at Florenc station is just one of the 26 planned closures by DPP as part of their comprehensive maintenance plan. The reconstruction of the ceiling slab is a necessary measure to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of the metro system. While the closure may cause temporary inconvenience, DPP appreciates the understanding and cooperation of passengers during this period. The company is committed to completing the maintenance work efficiently and promptly to provide a better commuting experience for passengers in the future.
