New DTT capacity in Czech capital as CRA buys Prague Digital TV

?eské Radiokomunikace (CRA) has completed the acquisition of Prague Digital TV, s.r.o., which operates transmitters in Prague as part of Regional Network 4. CRA is now the sole owner of the company.

It means an expansion for CRA’s portfolio of digital broadcasting networks and an increase in its capacity for television and radio broadcasting in Prague and central Bohemia. CRA will use its existing infrastructure to provide the transmissions.

“With the acquisition of Prague Digital TV, we will not only double the current capacity of television coverage in Prague and the surrounding area, but we will also gain additional space for the development of innovative television services,” says CRA CEO Miloš Mastník. “We are constantly trying to move digital terrestrial broadcasting forward, and the acquisition of Prague Digital TV is another step towards this goal,” adds Miloš Mastník.

Prague Digital TV has been active in the regional television broadcasting market for several years and reaches the whole of Prague and 41% of the Central Bohemia region.

CRA will gradually integrate Regional Network 4 into its own infrastructure to improve coverage. Transmissions are being moved to the Praha Žižkov broadcast tower used by Czech Television and all major commercial TV stations Prima, Nova, Barrandov, Seznam TV, Ó?ko and other TV channels.
