New underbridge platform for Czech Railways

Italian underbridge inspection platform manufacturer Barin has delivered a new AB 12 Combi truck mounted unit to the Czech rail network České Dráhy, for bridge inspections and maintenance.

Mounted on a four axle Volvo chassis which has been equipped with road/rail running gear made by local company SAZ. The lift mechanism features three two section telescopic booms with a slew ring between the first and the second, a short articulating jib and two man platform, enabling it to clear barriers of up to four metres high, provide a horizontal underbridge reach of 12.2 metres at up to six metres below the deck, or reach up to 17 metres below deck level at a radius of around two metres. It can also carry out work overhead with a working height of 16.5 metres.

The new machine will initially be based in Hodonin south of Brno on the border with Slovakia. The machine has is fully controlled from the platform or the base machine. It can travel on rails at speeds of up to 40kph.
