Prague woman ID’d as Saunders County crash victim

A tragic accident on Wednesday evening in Saunders County, Nebraska has left one woman dead and two children injured. According to the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, Jackilyn Potter-Buckendahl, 24, of Prague was a passenger in a 2001 Buick Regal driven by Rory Buckendahl, 26, when it was hit by a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 20-year-old Payton Pruett of Lincoln.

The incident occurred on Nebraska 79 when Pruett lost control of his northbound vehicle, veered into the ditch, overcompensated, and crossed the center line, striking the Buick. Jackilyn Potter-Buckendahl was taken to Fremont Methodist Health and later transported to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where she died from her injuries.

Two children in the Buick, ages 3 and 6, were also transported to a hospital for treatment. The 3-year-old is reported to have life-threatening injuries, while the 6-year-old has non-life-threatening injuries.

This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving and the potential consequences of reckless behavior behind the wheel. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families affected by this tragedy.
