The event Dry February is starting, it is supposed to contribute to the reduction of risky alcohol consumption

Dry February is an annual event aimed at reducing excessive alcohol consumption in the Czech Republic. The campaign, which begins today, encourages people to abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages for the entire month of February. The event is organized by the Dry February organization in cooperation with experts and this year it is being held under the motto “Not to drink is art!” to support authentic creation and creativity.

The Czech Republic has a high rate of alcohol consumption and excessive drinking threatens the health and quality of life of its citizens. The organizers of Dry February hope that taking a break from alcohol for a month will help participants understand the role that alcohol plays in their lives. Last year, a survey showed that 13.5% of the adult population participated in the event.

More than one million people in the Czech Republic are considered to drink at risk and excessive drinking has an estimated social cost of 56 billion crowns per year. The Dry February organization has been highlighting the issue of high and risky alcohol consumption in the country for a long time. It points out the negative impact that alcohol can have in the workplace, relationships, and on health, as well as the problematic approach that some parents have towards giving alcohol to their children.

By participating in Dry February, individuals can gain control over their alcohol consumption and lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.
