The Life of an Artist Foundation has handed out lifetime achievement awards

The 30th edition of the Life of an Artist Foundation awards ceremony took place in Prague’s Lucerna Cinema in mid-December. This year, for the first time, it took place under the title Master Prix, which replaced the original Senior Prix. The awards went to musicians Dalibor Janda, Oldřich Říha and actress Jana Synková.
“The Life of an Artist Foundation presented awards to a total of 33 artists in Lucerne. Among them are musicians, singers, actors, composers, dancers and moderators,” said Svatava Barančicová, executive director of the foundation.
During the award ceremony, there was also a gala premiere of a documentary about the Life of an Artist Foundation, which was created in celebration of 30 years since its founding. Visitors have also watched film samples from the foundation-backed children’s ballet The Nutcracker in Olomouc. The event was moderated by Václav Žmolík and played on the piano by jazz and swing pianist Jakub Šafr from Melody Makers Ondřej Havelka.
The foundation also gave a brand new award – the Crystal Brick. “The award goes to the personalities who were at the foundation 31 years ago. This year it was given to the first director of the foundation, the actor Jiri Novotny,” announced Svatava Barančicová. The awards were presented by prominent figures in the Czech cultural scene, actor and director Ondřej Kepka and opera singer Ivan Kusnjer.
