Thousands Explore Newly-Built Estacade in Brno, Offering Unique City Views

Over the weekend, Brno witnessed thousands of visitors taking advantage of the opportunity to walk along the newly-constructed estacade on the city’s extensive ring road. Part of a nearly CZK 2.5 billion project, this estacade spans over half a kilometer.

This walk provided not only a chance for attendees to closely inspect the estacade’s unique construction but also offered a rare panoramic view of Brno from an elevated vantage point. Situated approximately eighteen meters above ground level, this road will become accessible only by car once the construction is fully completed in a year.

The section of the ring road currently under construction will traverse Tomkovo Square, the Svitava River, and a railway track. Tomkovo Square has been a notorious bottleneck in Brno for years, causing significant traffic slowdowns.

Presently, tram tracks are being laid on Tomkovo Square, and a bridge is under construction over the road. Simultaneously, the estacade will connect to Rokytova Street on the opposite end, with one branch remaining closed until a tunnel to Vinohrady is constructed.
