Turkish Netflix movie ‘The Art of Love’ shooting in central Prague this weekend

Filming for The Art of Love, a Turkish movie produced by Netflix, will take place in the center of Prague this weekend, with shooting taking place around some of the Czech capital’s most famous landmarks. The production is slated to film from today through July 20 in Prague’s city center.

The Art of Love (Aşk Sanatı) is a romantic thriller involving an international crime ring. Director Recai Karagöz previously made Love Tactics 2, a sequel to one of Netflix Turkey’s most-viewed original films, which releases on the streaming platform tomorrow. The Art of Love screenwriter Pelin Karamehmetoğlu wrote the first Love Tactics.

Esra Bilgiç (Resurrection: Ertuğrul) and Birkan Sokullu (The Innocents) star in The Art of Love‘s leading roles. Brazilian model Larissa Gacemer had been cast as a Interpol agent in the film, but left the production due to scheduling conflicts; she was replaced by Nil KeserFırat TanışUshan ÇakırHakan Ummak, and Osman Alkaş also star in the film.

Primary production for The Art of Love took place earlier this summer in Istanbul before transferring to Prague for a one-week shoot.

Netflix handled production of last year’s blockbuster The Gray Man in similar fashion, with studio production taking place in Los Angeles for three months before a three-week shoot in Prague; the majority of exteriors seen in the film are in the Czech capital, however.

In Prague, The Art of Love will shoot across many of the city’s biggest landmarks. These include areas near Prague Castle at Hradčanské náměstí and Loretánské náměstí previously utilized for the filming of Interview with the Vampire earlier this summer. The Art of Love will also film on Thunovská street under Zámecké schody, the steps leading up to Prague Castle (July 15).

On the evening of July 18, the production has reserved areas on the Malá Strana side of Charles Bridge at U Lužického semináře, suggesting that the production may even film on the Prague landmark. The last major production to utilize Charles Bridge might have been Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The Art of Love will also film at one of The Gray Man‘s primary Prague locations at Jan Palach Square and Klárov across the Mánes Bridge. Nearby Široká street will also be used for the production. Filming will also take place on Na příkopě in the area of the former Živnostenská Banka Palace, which was previously used for production of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

A release date for the movie has not been confirmed, but The Art of Love is likely to hit Netflix at some point in 2024.
