Vodafone has introduced an enticing promotion for the summer season, offering free data to its customers. However, there’s a catch – the promotion is exclusively available to prepaid customers and not applicable to those with contract-based mobile plans. This creates an intriguing paradox in the market, where it becomes more advantageous for individuals to recharge prepaid cards rather than maintain contract subscriptions.

Effective from June 1st, Vodafone will enhance its standard offering by providing an additional 5 GB of data. In other words, customers with the basic tariff and a 1.5 GB data package will now receive 6.5 GB of data instantly. This upgraded data package can be obtained along with unlimited SMS messages on the Vodafone network for CZK 119. Alternatively, customers can choose unlimited calling on the Vodafone network instead of SMS messages for CZK 139.

Vodafone also offers the option to purchase SMS messages and unlimited calling on their network, with customers receiving an immediate 3.5 GB of data. This package, priced at CZK 299, will be upgraded to 8.5 GB of data with the summer promotion.

A data gift of 5 GB is available to all customers who use the Data+SMS or Komplet packages. In theory, it is possible to obtain up to 15 GB of data for CZK 399, including unlimited SMS messages on the Vodafone network.

Josef Bína, the manager of the prepaid card segment at Vodafone, expressed their strategy of digitizing the Czech Republic and the increasing usage of mobile data by prepaid card users. As a gesture during the summer season, Vodafone is giving away 5 GB of data every month to prepaid customers. This offer is valid for both the current offer and the revised packages from the end of June. Additionally, all prepaid cards are eligible to access Vodafone’s latest 5G network.

In comparison, contract customers will pay CZK 326 for 130 minutes of calling to any network and 1 GB of monthly data. The same data package with 250 minutes of calling will cost CZK 435.

While contract customers have the option to choose higher-priced tariffs that offer unlimited calling to all networks or even unlimited data, many individuals may find the prepaid card prices more appealing due to the generous data allowances. Moreover, Vodafone extends the data promotion to existing SIM cards as well, eliminating the need for customers to acquire a new phone number.

It’s important to note that the summer promotion is only valid until the end of August 31st, after which the 5 GB package will no longer be available. Contract customers will not have access to this promotional offer, potentially leaving them at a disadvantage during the summer months.
